A Fresh Look for Travel Insurance Direct

0 Comments 31 August 2007

Travel Insurance Direct has recently been re-launched, sporting a brand new design and with it a wider range of insurance offerings.

The site has adopted the company’s Travel Cover branding and centred layout with easier accessibility to the different services they provide.
Visually, the site is more stylish and user friendly, with a more intuitive navigation than its predecessor. Being the large site that it is, getting the structure and navigation right was always going to be a tough nut to crack, and the former site did trip over in places, becoming confusing to users on just how to find the information they seek.

But this has been simplified with the new design. Navigating throughout the site is easier with consistent upper and side navigation. Bread crumb navigation enables users to retrace their steps if they take a wrong turn.

The Site: From Old to New

The Travel Insurance Direct site has always been a fantastic resource, and continues to be. The site contains comprehensive information on all aspects of travel, with guides to different countries, resorts, airports etc, as well as offering a huge variety of different forms of insurance from your classic travel insurance to the more recent terrorism travel insurance cover. Travel Insurance Direct have also recently begun offering pet insurance to compliment the other forms of cover they provide.

The travel insurance blog has also seen a re-skin, taking on the look and feel of the new site design with all the latest social networking add-ons and plug-ins to benefit the blog from a search perspective.
Archive pages have been removed from the side navigation and been replaced with an automated site map to overcome any potential duplicate content issues.
The XML Google Sitemap is updated automatically as a new post is added as is the bread crumb trail – further boosting the internal link structure and usability of the site.
