Brand Awareness – Creativity is Key

0 Comments 12 October 2008

It can be hard for a business to get its message heard in a competitive marketplace. When it comes to raising awareness and promoting your brand and your product, there has never been a time where creativity has been needed so much.

But firstly how important is brand awareness? If you take Coca-Cola as an example, we can see just how invaluable the public’s awareness of a brand becomes. There may be little differences in taste when it comes to Cola flavoured drinks, but the high profile of both Coca-Cola and Pepsi means that they are able to enjoy the lion’s share of the soft drinks market.

As far as getting your name out there, it doesn’t actually have to cost the earth to be heard. A good idea goes a long way, and there are many ways in which you can reach out to a large number of people by inexpensive means.

Red Bull raised awareness of its brand in their early marketing days by leaving empty cans on tables in busy pubs and bars. This can easily be replicated by leaving inexpensive items such as pens or other forms of stationery in coffee shops or on trains during busy commuter times. As their business has grown, Red Bull has begun to sponsor a number of high profile sports team, from the Sauber Formula 1 team to then buying the entire Jaguar Formula 1 team in November 2004.

Sponsorship of a major Formula 1 racing team is not going to be cheap, but sponsoring a local non-league football team is a great way to get your brand out in the public eye.

Just by being a bit creative, you can achieve a good deal of exposure for a good price, through sponsorship, promotional merchandise and just a few good ideas.
