Chris Rushton – Ace Up Our Sleeve

Ella McConnell

Our shiny new project manager Chris Rushton originally hails from Birmingham, although claims to have completely lost his distinctive accent after having lived here in the south for so long (the past five years, to be exact). Coming from German Jewish stock, Chris moved to Brighton on a Saturday before starting work on the Monday, courageously battling through the significant hangover he’d somehow managed to acquire over the weekend.

Before coming to join us here at Fresh Egg, Chris’s career prospects proved to be quite varied. He didn’t have his first job until he was 19, playing poker as his primary source of income, and as a youngster he had trials with Coventry City and Birmingham City; we should probably keep an eye on him if he offers to take part in any Fresh Egg poker tournaments!

Chris did still turn out to be somewhat of a fitness fanatic, though, so much so that his girlfriend has banned him from speaking about his self-professed love for the gym. However, he should perhaps try not to push himself too hard: he’s had to have reconstructive surgery on his knee after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament (a predicament he neatly summarises as “not cool!”).

Chris is also a rather well-read individual, having studied English literature at university (and written an entire dissertation on beards while he was at it, an achievement not to be sniffed at) and naming The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov his favourite book. Straight after he finished his degree, Chris fell into a project manager role at Yell (now known as Hibu) for a year, but is quite glad he did: project managing turned out to be something he enjoys and is quite good at!

When asked why he wanted to come and work with us, Chris said: “I wanted to come out of my shell!” This shocking pun seals it: we’re certain that he’ll fit right in.

Welcome aboard, Chris!
