Last week Twitter announced that it had bought short blogging platform Posterous.com, but it would seem only for its staff. Sachin Agarwal, CEO and founder of Posterous, announced the news in a blog post on Monday. He promised users that Posterous Spaces will remain undisrupted, but did not rule out future changes. However, he did say that there would be ‘ample notice’ if anything happened, and that he would release instructions on how to move over to other platforms, such as WordPress and Tumblr.
Twitter’s blog added that the talented Posterous team will be joining various Twitter teams “on several key initiatives that will make Twitter even better.”
David Abrahams, Chief Executive at Channel 4, has announced the launch of a new channel: 4seven. Set to launch across all major TV platforms later this year, it will allow viewers to catch up with top Channel 4 programmes from the last seven days without going online. David Abrahams explained:
“With so much choice out there, viewers are increasingly saying they sometimes just miss the best stuff, despite their PVR and VOD. 4seven will give viewers more chances to catch the most popular and talked about Channel 4 shows from the last seven days.”
The channel will schedule content from Channel 4 that has created a big buzz amongst social media users, bloggers and those who have contacted them directly. The aim is for 4seven to maximise the audience for the many hours of new programmes launched by Channel 4 each week, as well as to encourage users back to Channel 4.
