Here at Fresh Egg, a few staff members are trialling QR code tattoos as part of a local initiative that allows ink junkies to scan their wrist code as payment in shops and to access the office.
Nokia has gone a step further, proposing that mobile phone users’ skin is tattooed, stamped or sprayed with a ‘ferromagnetic’ material that is then paired with their device.
The magnetic marking could be placed on the users’ arm, stomach, finger or even fingernail, and would vibrate when the phone has low battery, receives a call or message, and more besides.
Twitter targeted ads
Not long ago Twitter announced Promoted Tweets and Stories. Now, in a bid to increase site revenue, Twitter is now giving a more targeted advertising option.
Brands and businesses can now target campaigns to specific devices such as laptops, desktops, iOS and Android mobile devices and others.
The idea allows brands to alter the campaign depending on the device. For example, a mobile phone accessories company could alter their ads depending on whether an iOS or Android phone was being used.
Similarly, any call to action could be catered to the device’s capabilities.

Can you believe Twitter is already six? On 21 March 2006, Jack Dorsey tweeted the first ever tweet, “just setting up my twttr.” Six years on, Twitter has over 500 million users.
Originally an off-hand project from the creators of podcasting company Odeo, Twitter now has worldwide reach and is used in our everyday lives for numerous different things. Radio and TV use Twitter to discuss issues and interact with its audience, Sussex Police use it to inform residents of any crimes committed locally as well as spread community news, we used it to repair a broken Britain with #riotcleanup and Twitter has even saved a couple of lives!
Twitter is now available in 28 languages and is used as an unofficial news source; it even reported the death of Michael Jackson 45 minutes before it was announced on TV. People are posting thousands of tweets per second, which can include links, pictures and videos. The service, once known for its ‘Fail Whale’ page, has come a long way in these six short years, and I for one look forward to it growing in the future.
