I know we’ve been going on and on about Timeline, but now it has finally become available in the UK. Facebook is rolling out Timeline to the UK officially on the 23rd of December (it’s like an early Christmas present from Mark Zuckerberg!). However, you can enable your Timeline before then by following these simple steps:
One tweet has saved the life of Erickson Dimas-Martinez. Mr Dimas-Martinez was put on death row after he was convicted of murder in 2010 for shooting and robbing teenager Derrick Jefferson following a party in 2006.
His conviction has now been overturned because of the actions of juror number 2, AKA Randy Franco, who tweeted about the case despite being told by the judge that jurors must not post comments or discuss the case on the internet or on their mobiles. Mr Franco tweeted:
“Choices to be made. Hearts to be broken... We each define the great line.”
The Supreme Court has overturned an earlier decision by the Circuit Court Judge, which denied a motion for a new trial stating:
“Because of the very nature of Twitter as an... online social media site, juror 2's tweets about the trial were very much public discussions... Even if such discussions were one-sided, it is in no way appropriate for a juror to state musings, thoughts or other information about a case in such a public fashion.”
Mr Erickson Dimas-Martinez has been spared the lethal injection (for now).
Two girls - Charli, from Germany, and Alex, an American copywriter - came up with a fantastic campaign to get hired as a creative duo before Charli’s visa expired. The idea was: give us a job as a creative duo or we will marry each other to stay together.
