Friday Social Round Up: Google+ Local, Facebook Scheduling and a Viral Proposal.

Google+ Local

In September, Google acquired restaurant review site Zagat. They have now rolled out a new Google+ update called Google+ Local. The new addition replaces Google Places and is described on their blog as “a simple way to discover and share local information featuring Zagat scores and recommendations from people you trust on Google+.” It also allows users to add reviews and post photos.

When signed in to Google+ Local, Google uses your location to list businesses near you, including restaurants, guesthouses and jewellers.

You can also download the Google+ Local app for mobile, which allows you to check into places.

Facebook scheduling

Anyone who is a page admin in Facebook will understand the frustration of having to use a third party tool to schedule posts; why is this not a feature already? Well, be frustrated no more as Facebook now allows admins to schedule posts up to six months in advanced by clicking on the clock icon and setting a date.

 

Money Saving Expert sells his site for £87 million

MoneySavingExpert.com founder Martin Lewis has sold his website and forum to MoneySupermarket.com for a massive £87 million. The site has been purchased for £60 million upfront in a mixture of cash and shares, with an additional £27 million more conditional on meeting non-financial performance targets over the next three years.

Mr Lewis posted on the website this morning, explaining that he will be donating a generous £10 million to charity, £1 million of which will go to Citizens Advice.

 

Viral video

On Wednesday the 23rd of May, a man called Issac decided to propose to his girlfriend. He filmed it, put it on YouTube and eight days later it has received just under 11 million views! Watch the elaborate proposal below. I will warn you, though: if you’re a bit soppy (like me), this can be a tear jerker!
