If you haven't got your product catalogue uploaded to Google Base, I have to ask you the following, why?
After all what have you got to lose? Sending your product feed to Google Base is free of charge and it can gain you some much needed visibility, especially if you are in the early stages of an SEO campaign or struggling with the rising costs and competitiveness of Google Adwords.
I thought I would share this one with you as when I saw this I thought that's a hell of a result for such a generic KeyPhrase for a jewellery business that has just three stores in Southern England.
Zoo Jewellery have never chased the term 'Jewellery' for a top 10 position simply for the reason the term is to generic for their product offering. But when a first page result is delivered in this way, you are not going to turn it down. It still staggers me how many people I speak to whose web design company or new media agency has not created a Google Base feed, in fact it's almost criminal.
Google Base (Froogle if you have not updated your memory banks) is simply beautiful. I guarantee Zoo Jewellery will take this result especially in the last few days of Christmas ordering without having to pay top dollar to appear via Adwords.
What is the worst that can happen through uploading your products to Google Base? Oh, you might not appear on appear on the first page, and there are no guarantees the listing will be in place the next time the same search query is performed. But don't forget, you have to be in it to win it!
