SEO – The week that was at Fresh Egg
Friday already! Fan ‘ruddy’ tastic, it’s bank holiday weekend, and the sun is shining! Although I do wonder where the time goes? This week has just flashed by.
A good week for the SEO team
Our SEO team has had a great week, we have seen some awesome positions coming in and when the good results happen it makes you realise why you love the job as much as you do.
As an SEO, is there any better feeling then seeing a site hit the top slots for the ‘glamour’ terms in Google? (obvious answer excluded)
And does that feeling intensify when looking at inbound traffic levels increasing as a direct result of the fruits of your labour?
I love it when I see a result come in, especially when we displace an established site from a high ranking position. I have now lost count of the number of occasions we have taken a site from obscurity and given it a presence and visibility like never before.
The projects we took on at that start of 2009 are all starting to hit the heights expected, and some on just half a day’s SEO time a month!
Money Saving Expert – Spectacular
One of our SEO clients Select Specs had a great result this week; an initiative we have been planning in tandem with them since January came to the boil earlier this week. If you haven’t seen it yet, the guys at Select Specs have devastated the prescription glasses market with the following offer: Prescription Glasses for £5!

Quite literally this offer has blown their competitors away! As a result of the offer it was accepted by the team at Money Saving Expert and placed on their weekly newsletter to 3 million readers! The price of prescription glasses from SelectSpecs is the cheapest in the world and it raises the competitive bar in the glasses sector.
The result has been outstanding – Traffic has gone through the roof, as have orders, and everyone is very happy. Most importantly, we have seen Select Specs gain ground on top KeyPhrases targets and overtake Specsavers in Google on the key ‘glamour’ term.
Given the might and power of the marketing spend of SpecSavers against the time we have per month working with Select Specs, the result is nothing short of spectacular! Select Specs were not in the top 20 for the glamour term when the project commenced in January. Today the site is nestled within the top 5 of Google UK for the term ‘glasses’.
Hat’s off to the guys at Select Specs for giving us such as unbelievable offer to have and play with, how does the saying go? Fortune favours the brave!

New Blood and Freesat!
Next week see’s the arrival of Peter Richards who is joining the ever-growing SEO team at Fresh Egg. So an early welcome to Peter is extended (mine’s a tea with no sugar thanks).
I am also looking forward to seeing the HD capability of FreeSat which is being installed. I’ve had SKY HD and subsequently binned SKY HD, personally I thought I was being ripped off by having to pay over the odds for the High-Definition content, so a big welcome to free HD content even if it is just ITV, BBC and I am led to believe Channel 4!
For those that know me you know that I will not be too far away from a computer over the weekend, but if the weather is nice, you can expect me to swap the keyboard for a bottle of 1664 just for a few moments.
Google can rest easy, well until Tuesday that is. Have a cracking bank holiday weekend!

Congrats on the result- just goes to show compelling offer + correct management = link magnet!
Hi Adam, agreed, it really is a mind-blowing offer from Select Specs.
There has been a lot go into the campaign behind the scenes at Fresh Egg towers in structuring the campaign
As well as MSE there are some great links coming in from some very strong industry related bloggers.
Nice post! ;o)
Been a fantastic week here at SelectSpecs thanks to this campaign especially with the appearance in the MSE Tip’s email. Looking forward to more traffic and sales over the coming weeks / months from the campaign!
Cheers for the great work guys!
Amen! I concur, it was a great week at Fresh Egg and the long weekend isn’t going too badly either
It has been great working with Fresh Egg, especially with an offer like this for £5 prescription glasses.
Sadly I was away from the office myself when all the fun kicked off last week and the orders started flying in, but hey, I was in New York City!!!
