Visit Wales Retains Fresh Egg
Visit Wales, the organisation that took over the functions of the former Wales Tourist Board, has retained the SEO services of Fresh Egg for a further 12 month period. Because Visit Wales is a government-funded body, a full tender-based re-pitch was required after the first year.
“We’re delighted to be working with Visit Wales for a further 12 months. New business wins are always pleasing, but retaining clients (especially after a competitive pitch) is even more satisfactory because it vindicates our suggestions and proves we’ve delivered the results we promised!” says Adam Stafford, MD of Fresh Egg.
Visit Wales’ initial brief to Fresh Egg was to increase their search ranking position to generate more traffic and boost brand awareness. The Visit Wales website was designed to match the style of the TV advertising campaign and while it was (and is) unquestionably stunning visually and graphically, it wasn’t particularly search engine friendly.
Fresh Egg suggested various changes and alterations to the Visit Wales website to improve search ranking performance, including constructing an underlying “shadow” site that was Search Engine Optimised without detracting from the look and feel of the graphically driven front end. Instigating a Visit Wales blog helps to aid and assist searchers in finding various resources without compromising Google rankings.
The Fresh Egg search engine optimisation campaign commenced in October 2007, and has delivered a five-fold increase in reach of the Visit Wales site – from around 8,000 keyword directions to over 40,000, – within 12 months.
